Simon Burn

THE OFFICIAL BIO

Simon Burn is a filmmaker, cinematographer and photographer.

He has spent over 35 years working in the creative industry. He started out as a designer and creative director, and shifted over to photography and video production. He’s photographed hundreds brand and editorial assignments around the world, shooting travel, tourism, culture, lifestyle, food, and interiors. 

His work has graced the covers and spreads of lifestyle magazines, and been featured in newspapers, advertising campaigns, books, TV, and the web. Clients have included Eurotunnel, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Deloitte, National Home Show, Hydro One, Bruce Power, Marin Mountain Bikes, Mistral Windsurfing, and dozens of regional tourism organisations in Europe and North America.

Over the past 5-6 years Simon has focused on creating branded video content, and has gained a huge amount of experience working on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Simon is currently working on his first feature documentary about the Camino de Santiago, and various factual entertainment series.

He spends his time between Canada and England.

EXPERIENCE

I’ve been fortunate to have spent 30+ years working in travel, tourism, and lifestyle as a creative director, photographer and video producer.

I’ve worked with:

  • Eco-tourism & arts initiatives.

ADVENTURE.  WELL, MORE EXPERIENCE REALLY

I’ve been lucky enough to have:

  • Hung off a helicopter over the Purcell Mountains in B.C. to shoot for an exclusive resort

  • Sailed off the coasts of Africa, Spain and Turkey for windsurfing brands

  • Travelled through Death Valley and up in the Canadian Arctic Circle on Land Rover expeditions

  • Photographed famous interior designers in Hollywood and Beverley Hills

  • Shot celebrity chefs in Niagara, Quebec City and Seattle

  • Sampled and shot local cuisine in places such as Barcelona, Gozo, Puerto Rico, Barbados and Cuba.

Someone has to do this kind of work, so one day, many years ago, I asked myself “Why not me?”.

VALUE

I also have many years of experience in publication art direction, and video production as a producer / director. This unique perspective and experience has given me a very comprehensive understanding of building brands and creating strategic content to tell stories and promote ideas.  

Storytelling is at the heart of what I create, and I strive to produce work that sits above the mediocre, something compelling that is sure to grab attention and inspire.

FILMMAKER

Over the course of my career I’ve produced and directed video content from brand ads & promotional videos, to adventure travel documentaries. Highlights include the highly-acclaimed production of a Land Rover overland expedition film “Border To Border: 50th Anniversary Trans-American Trek”, sold and distributed globally.

In recent years, much of my time has been spent on video production and filming factual entertainment series and documentaries. I create video content for clients, including promotional and instructional videos and social media reels.
